DAY 1 ACCRA INN TRANSFER TO HOTEL

Transfer to hotel and briefing on the itinerary.
Overnight  Hotel LABADI BEACH DELUX

DAY 2   ACCRA --- LOME
We will drive to a neigboring  country of Togo to the east. Togo was once a German colony before the first world war after which the Germans lost it to the French and the British. We will visit the Grand marche to see the NANA BENZES who are normally FAT and Fair in complexion. We then continue to the biggest FETISH market where we will find all kinds of animal parts the are very essential for the sacrifices and as well as for the realization of VODOO.

DAY 3 LOME – GRANDPOPO
We start the day by a short drive to the old Capital of Togo land of ANEHO to visit a local Hospital where the Doc. Uses VODOO to cure his patients SPIRITUALLY and HERBS physically. We will cross the border  after that into BENIN the capital of the VODOO KINDOM and more also where the religion is said to have been exported to the AMERICAS. The day will end with an attendance to a voodoo ritual .ZANGBETOR

DAY 4 GRANDPOPO – PORTO NOVO—GANVIE
Morning drive to the Historic town of OUIDA where it is believed that many of the slaves that was exported from West Africa went through. The Portuguese fort, the Pythons Shrine and the slave rout to the beach.
We continue to Porto novo the administrative capital of Benin to visit a very good ethnographic museum that hosts MASKS that have been used by the Yoruba society of Nigeria. After lunch we continue to Ganvie, as the name means Refuge which is a city on stilts on the lake Nokwe that was created around the peak of Slavery.

DAY 5 GANVIE – BOHICON
In the morning we will visit Ganvie which is a very colorful town especially in the morning when all the women come out to do their daily activity on boats. Most interesting is the floating market on the lake. We will then drive to Abomey which used to be the capital of the kingdom of DANHOMEY and we will visit the royal palace which is now a museum and hosts the relics of the kingdom, especially the sacred shrines built with human blood ,gold dust, seawater, and shells.

DAY 6  BOHICON – NATITINGOU
Today we will transfer ourselves from the forest region to the savanna in the north,. We shall stop at a holy ground of voodoo where most voodoo worshipers come to on their pilgrimage. After 350klms , we will stop to visit an interesting hidden town of TANEKA where young males are still initiated at the age 25yrs and with a hidden culture,

DAY 7  NATI – KARA
We proceed to the land of the SOMBA and the TAMBERMA. A population well noted for their mini castle like mud buildings of three stories.

DAY 8  KARA – YENDI
The day begins with IRON civilization society  in BASSAR. It is believed that the population of Bassar were the founders of iron in the West African  kingdom. When slavery was at its peak, the Bassarians actually profited  from it by making guns and bows and arrows. The most important is the HOE that was used to cultivate the land and as well as DOWRY in marriage among the tribes. The Hoe also became a kind of money in those days. The day takes us to the VILLAGE OF WICTHES where we visit these poor old people accused of all the misfortunes that happens in their villages.

DAY 9  YENDI – TAMALE
We drive further north today to the land of the frescoes to visit the GURUNSI and the TALENSI who build fortified  homes. The Gurunsi men build the houses and the women in their turn paint these houses to look very beautiful. The paintings  are not only to beautify the houses, but also carry the history  of the family which is passed on to generations.
The Talensis, build labyrinth homes which made it at least for slave raiders , very difficult to raid the population in those days. We will also visit the ORACLE which is the protector of the area till today.

DAY 10  TAMALE – KUMASI
We will transfer ourselves to the south today which will be a long drive. We arrive to the kingdom of gold in the heart of the tropical forest.

DAY 11  KUMASI
The garden city of Kumasi, which  is the capital city of the Ashanti who forms the largest portion of the Akan tribe has a lot to offer to tourism. Kumasi has the oldest market which is said to be the end of the caravan rout from the legendry Timbuktu. The cultural center which has a museum built in the ancient palace style of the Akans has a lot of old relics used by the various Kings of the kingdom. The manhyia palace which was the  real seat of the Kingdom that has been transformed  into a museum also holds objects used by the Chiefs and Kings through out the centuries.
The Kente village of Bonwire where the fabric is believed to have been born is also of good interest.

DAY 12  KUMASI – ANOMABU
The coast of  the Gold Coast is noted for the export of slaves and also for the oldest European settlement in the sub Saharan Africa. The canopy walk which is one its kind in Africa and the longest in the world is of interest.

DAY 13  ANOMABO –CAPE COAST ANOMABO
Today we will visit the most interesting European settlements on the Gold coast. The S. Georges Castle, built by the  Portuguese in the 13th century and the Cape coast castle in the 15th century. Both for the export of slaves and still stands as it were built in those days.

DAY 14 ANOMABO  -- ACCRA {departure}
We drive back to Accra this morning for our final city visit. Accra, a modern African town host a very educative museum built by the former presidents with objects from all over the continent. The Fantasy COFFIN makers with their tremendous art in coffin making is also of interest in the capital. The Artisan Market which offers many things from the African continent.
Final wash up and transfer to the airport for departure.
