DAY 1 ARRIVAL IN BAMAKO
Arrival in BAMAKO and assistance to hotel

DAY 2 BAMAKO – SEGOU
After breakfast We will visit the ethnographic museum which is one of the best in West Africa, with it’s great collection displaying of African shapes of ancient art objects of astonishing beauty. We will admire masks, ritual sculptures, archeological terra cottas, textiles, musical instruments, tools and traditional weapons after which we leave for the east towards Segou.

DAY 3 SEGOU -- DJENNE
A ling drive today brings us to Djenne , the water locked land, once a great and religious and commercial center located on the Niger river. Djenne was built in the 14th century and has the fine Afro-Arab architecture including the most famous Mosque in all of Mali. The largest clay building in the world. Mondays are the market days where hundreds of people will stand around the mosque to sell their goods. Impressive the way the people arrive to this market, by carts pulled by horses, donkeys, cows, and trucks overloaded with people.

DAY 4 DJENNE -- MOPTI
We will have a full day visit of Djenne including the Fulani villages around, the koranic schools and the Gold smiths, the bougoulan shops and the market.

DAY 5 MOPTI -- BANDIANGARA
The town of Mopti is built on three islands where the Bani and the Niger river meets. The town is alive with different cultures, Bozo fishermen, the Dogon and the Tuaregs, Bambara, and Bella farmers together with the Peul shepard. The market and the harbor are saturated with all kinds of smells and colors.
We will visit Mopti and the fish harbor.

DAY 6 BANDIANGARA – FALESIA
This morning g we will visit the most famous cave of the Dogon’s at SONGO where circumcision is held every three years, the cave is painted with so many designs which makes it very interesting. We will continue to the capital of the Dogons at Sanga which was made very popular by the French ethnologist Griaule Marcel which comprises of ten villages. The road takes us to our camp site at the foothills of the escarpment.

DAY 7 /8 FALESIA
TWO DAYS HIKING
The average tourist does not come to Dogon country to visit the villages on the plateau due to the difficult, hard situations and sandy roads which are nearly impassable. With many Dogons converting to Islam and Christianity, animism seems to be on the decrease in some villages in the Dogon country, whiles on the other hand the legendary places continues to be respected as sacred grounds, and, moreover, many animistic traditions are practiced indoors in certain homes.

DAY 9 FALESIA –OUAHIGOUYA
To the border with Burkina fasso, we will drive through the Dogon lowlands which are really rarely visited and which is the oldest Dogon settlement with very worked and carved pillars supporting their Toguna’s which is a palava hall of the elders of the villages. In the late afternoon we will cross the border into Burkina Fasso.

DAY 10 OUAHIGOUYA – BOBO
We are transferring ourselves to the second capital of the Upper Volta to the region of the BOBO.

DAY 11 BOBO
We will visit Bobo djiulasso which is very famous for African mask collection. We will visit the train station which built in old Sudanese style and old quarters of the town and also the mosque.

DAY 12 BOBO—BONI
A brief excursion in the Boni town will enable us understand why it is still said that animism is still highly practiced in the gourounsi region. A Mask dance in the Afternoon
O/N CAMPING IN THE MANGOES
DAY 13 BONI—OUAGA
Drive to Ouagadougou through Sabou visiting the Crocodile sacred pond where one finds fishermen fishing in the crocodile filled pond which tells how they live together. We will be visiting some authentic MOSSI villages on the way.

DAY 14 OUAGA—TIEBELE--OUAGA
An early wake up call to visit the southern part of the country of BURKINA FASSO. A visit to the Gourounsi who’s men build the fortified houses and their women paint the houses with natural colors which is not only to beautify the house but also to keep the history of the family to generations to come.

DAY 15 OUAGA [PARTENZA]
Noted for it’s lively lifestyle, Ouagadougou boast of one the best grand marches in West Africa. Burkina Fasso’s basketry is famous and this market is a good place to buy them, along with items like tie-dyed cloth form Mali and Guinea. The state operated centre Artisanal is the place for exotic batiks ,good quality bronze castings, and carvings. Various street vendors also sell some Dogon carvings. Time to get ready for the evenings transfer to the airport.
