Late morning departure to the south. Tiebele region on the border of Burkina fasso with Ghana is inhabited by the GURUNSI [KASENA] tribe that live in fortified houses. The GURUNSI women are the creators of beautiful abstracts African frescoes that decorate the walls of their mud houses. The designs are not only to beautify the abodes but also carry the history and pass it on to generations. The huts are situated in a harmonious round formation. The GURUNSI architecture for the beauty of it’s functional lines has inspired the Swiss* vanguard* architect Le Curboisier
We drive through the Land of the Mossi tribe who build giant granaries in straw. Mossi is the largest and the dominating of the 60 major ethnic groups in the Burkina Fasso and are very famous their longest royal dynasty in West Africa. We will arrive to the Lobis.

The Lobi are very unique for their Fortified houses originally built to withstand the cavalry Arab slave raiders and the Libal disks worn by their women. The lobi migrated to this NO MANS land for safety. In the afternoon we will visit the Stone age ruins of LOROPENI who’s origins are still not known
A short visit to the water fall of Banfora and then we will continue to BOBO DJIULASSO , the land of two ethnic groups thus to say the BOBO and the Djiula. Bobo is the best place to shop for African masks. We will the train station and the great mosque by the old town of bobo.
DAY 6 BOBO – BONI
We will arrive in time to visit Boni and in the afternoon assist in a mask dance in a village

DAY 7 BONI – OUAHIGOUYA
We will transfer to the north of the country through the land of the Mossi, and the Fulani herds men with beautiful country sides.
DAY 8 OUAHIGOUYA – DJIBO
After a short drive this morning , we will arrive to the land of the Kouroumba[another ethnic group] who have been friends of the mossi forever and sort protection of the mossi at least in the time of slavery. We will visit their archeological sites where we find PITROGLYPH on rocks depicting animals that have once lived with these people.
DAY 9 DJIBO- –GOROM-GOROM
Depart for the Gorom-gorom market today, where we meet a variety of Sahel and Sahelian ethnic groups bringing their animals such as GOATS,CAMELS, COWS, etc. We will also have the chance to see Tuaregs proudly onj their Camels with their former slaves, the Bella, who’ve taken over many of their erstwhile masters leather skills, and Fulani herds men, and Songhai farmers – each in their own traditional dress.

DAY 10 GOROM –OUAGA VIA BANI
We head down towards Ouagadougou in the south direction today, with our first stop at Bani, a small TOWN WITH Seven mosques which we will see on arrival at the entry of town. This little town has an interesting story about how Islam found it’s way out here, with the Minarets of the mosques pointing to the sky like fingers.

The bustling African metropolitan capital of Burkina Fasso. Noted for it’s lively lifestyle, Ouagadougou boasts of one of the best GRAND MARCHE [city markets] in West Africa. Burkina’s basketry is very famous and this market is a good place to buy them, along side with items like the tie-dye cloth from Mali and the Guinea. The state operated centre Artisanal is the place for exotic Batiks, good quality bronze castings, and carvings. Various street vendors also sells Dogon wood carvings , masks and wooden Senoufou Chairs. Ouagadougou, the capital of the MOSSI kingdom, a tribe that is noted for giant straw granary and a major of the 60 ethnic groups in the UPPER VOLTA, which is said to have the Longest Dynasty in West Africa…. Time to get ready for departure, day use rooms for showers.
